Jackson Kench

Jackson first joined the club in 2016 following an extremely successful season at The Shore School, where he was a part of an undefeated First VIII. In 2016 he rowed alongside Max Brenner, Pasha Bevan, and Tom Barnes in the Australian Junior Men’s Quadruple Sculls at the Junior World Championships, where they placed 6th in the B final.

The following season, Kench again won the Head of the River for Shore, where he was Captain of Boats. Jackson made a return to the JM4x in 2017 alongside SRC mates Harry Crouch, Lachlan Stevenson, and coach Jason Baker. The crew were unlucky not to make the A final, yet improved on the previous years results by placing 3rd.

Despite the prospect of heading to the USA for university, Jackson chose to stay at SRC, where he won the Quad and Coxed Four at Nationals in 2018, as well as being selected for the NSW Youth Eight. The crew extended NSW’s winning streak in the event, taking home the Noel F Wilkinson Trophy for the 4th time on the trot.

The 2018 winter then saw Jackson, and pair partner Alex Nichol, represent Australia on the U21 Team, as well as SRC in the Britannia Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta, which made the semi-finals, losing to the eventual winners Thames Rowing Club.

Jackson has had an extremely successful career thus far, and we look forward to seeing what the coming years hold for him.
