Leah Saunders
Leah has recently joined Sydney Rowing Club from Lower Clarence RC, where she was the team member of fellow Sydney member, Riley Elvery.
After the National Championships in 2010, he travelled to New Zealand as part of Rowing Australia's National Talent Identification & Development program, where he was coached by Sydney Rowing Club's Adam Vine-Hall.
At the National Championships in 2011, Leah placed 4th in the Women's U19 single scull and won a silver medal in both the U19 double and quad in composite crews from the Northern Rivers of NSW.
Leah then moved to Sydney and joined Sydney Rowing Club in March 2011 to continue her training for National Selection trials. Of her decision to join Sydney, she says "I basically came here because of Adam… I'll also say that everyone speaks of the Sydney Rowing Club Vibes. It has a really good feel about it – really chilled out, but still and awesome place to hammer yourself. You want to have a group of awesome people around you when you're smashing it out, and Sydney has an abundance of awesome people."
Since then, Leah has been selected to compete in the Women's Quad for Australia at the 2011 Junior World Rowing Championships in Eton, London.
We welcome Leah to Sydney Rowing Club and wish her every success in her rowing career at SRC.
